A Visa or Mastercard casino accepts card deposits and, at most brands, pays winnings back to the same card. Card deposits land in seconds and usually qualify for welcome bonuses. The catches sit with your card issuer: gambling payments carry their own merchant category code, 7995, which some banks block, and credit card issuers may treat them as a cash advance with an extra fee. A growing number of countries ban credit cards for gambling altogether.
This guide explains how card payments at international casinos work, why some are declined, how payouts reach your card, and which brands in our directory accept Visa and Mastercard. Facts on each brand come from its own payments page and terms, checked in October 2026.

Why is my card declined at an online casino?
Most card declines at casinos come from the issuer, not the casino. Gambling merchants are coded 7995 by the card networks, and many banks decline that code by default, on request or for certain card types. Other common causes are 3-D Secure authentication failing, a daily card limit, or a payment from a country the casino does not serve. Ask your bank first, then the casino.
| Cause | What you see | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Bank blocks gambling (MCC 7995) | Instant decline with no message from the casino | Ask the bank; some let you change the setting in the app |
| Gambling block you set yourself | Decline every time | Keep it if you set it to stop; remove only after a pause |
| 3-D Secure not completed | Payment times out | Approve in your banking app within the time limit |
| Card-type rules | Prepaid or credit card refused | Use a debit card or another method |
| Country mismatch | Casino-side decline | Your country may be excluded in the terms |
Credit cards: bans and cash-advance fees
Several countries prohibit gambling with credit cards. The United Kingdom banned them for gambling from 14 April 2020, and Australia banned credit cards for online wagering from 11 June 2024. Neither market is served by the brands in this directory, but the trend matters: regulators see credit-funded gambling as a harm, and banks elsewhere apply their own limits.
Where credit cards are still accepted, your issuer decides how to post the transaction. Many treat a gambling payment like a cash withdrawal: a cash-advance fee is charged on the spot, interest starts immediately, and the payment does not earn rewards. Visa and Mastercard do not set these fees; your card agreement does. A EUR 200 deposit with a 3% cash-advance fee costs EUR 6 before you place a bet, plus interest until you repay it. Use a debit card if you play at all. If you only have a credit card, read the cash-advance section of your card agreement before the first deposit, because the fee and the interest rate are set out there and not on the casino’s cashier page.
How card withdrawals work
Casinos cannot send winnings as an ordinary refund. The networks provide dedicated payout transactions: Mastercard requires a Gaming Payment Transaction to the same card used for the gambling, and Visa offers push payments to eligible cards through Visa Direct. Where your card or the casino’s processor does not support these, the casino pays you by bank transfer instead. That is why a “card withdrawal” sometimes arrives as a bank transfer.
| Brand | Card withdrawal timing stated | Caps |
|---|---|---|
| Spin Sweet | Within 2 working days per the payments page; up to 72 hours processing once KYC is complete | EUR 5,000 per rolling 24 hours, EUR 20,000 per rolling 30 days |
| Jackpot Cow | Up to 72 hours processing, then up to 3 days to arrive | EUR 5,000 per 24 hours, EUR 20,000 per 30 days |
| Kim Casino | Aims to process within 2 working days, allows up to 72 hours | EUR 5,000 per 24 hours, EUR 20,000 per 30 days |
| Slot Hype (for comparison) | Cards average about 2 hours processing | EUR 5,000 per 24 hours, EUR 20,000 per 30 days |
Apple Pay and Google Pay
Apple Pay and Google Pay are card payments made through your phone. Spin Sweet, Jackpot Cow and Slot Pony list Apple Pay, and Kim Casino and Bet Inferno list Google Pay as well. The deposit is processed as a card payment, so card bonus rules apply and your issuer’s gambling settings still decide whether it goes through. Withdrawals go to the underlying card or another method in your name.
Cards and bonuses
Card deposits count for the welcome offers at all five brands above, unlike some e-wallet deposits. The bonus itself is the same whichever eligible method you use, so the choice of card over bank comes down to convenience and fees. Two reminders from the terms: each deposit must be wagered once before withdrawal, and withdrawals must go to a method in your own name.
Card payments by licence
| Licence | Cards at our brands | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Malta (MGA) | Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay | Card schemes and EU acquirers are used to Maltese licensees |
| Estonia (EMTA) | Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, AstroPay Card | Same as Malta in practice |
| Anjouan | Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay at some brands | A Cyprus payment agent appears on statements |
| Tobique | Cashier behind login at SlotMonster and Incognito | Check after registering |
| Curaçao (CGA) | Some fiat options at BitStarz; mBit is crypto-only | Crypto is the main rail |
Our licence hubs cover the background: MGA casinos, Estonian-licensed casinos and Anjouan-licensed casinos.
What the statement shows
Card statements rarely show the casino’s brand name. At the Hundise brands the terms name a payment agent in Cyprus, Novabridge Limited, and other groups use their own processors. Keep the casino’s transaction ID for each deposit. If a charge looks wrong, contact the casino first with that ID; a card chargeback is for unauthorised or undelivered payments, and using it to recover gambling losses usually leads to the account being closed.
Debit card, credit card or bank transfer?
| Debit card | Credit card | Instant bank transfer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit speed | Seconds | Seconds | Seconds |
| Likely extra cost | None | Cash-advance fee and immediate interest at many issuers | None |
| Decline risk | Gambling blocks at some banks | Higher: some issuers refuse gambling | Bank gambling blocks |
| Payout | Back to card or by bank transfer | Back to card where supported | To your bank account |
| Legal limits | Rarely | Banned for gambling in the UK and Australia | Rarely |
For most readers outside those markets, a debit card or an instant bank transfer is the cheaper choice. See our instant bank casinos guide for payout times, and the e-wallet casinos guide if you prefer to keep card details away from casinos.
Protecting your card
- Deposit only on the casino’s own cashier page, never through a link sent by chat or email.
- Complete 3-D Secure in your own banking app; never share the code.
- Cover the middle digits when you upload a photo of your card for verification, as most casinos ask.
- Set a monthly card limit for online payments if your bank allows it.
- If you want to stop gambling, a gambling block on your card is one of the most effective tools there is. Our responsible gambling page lists others.
Prepaid, virtual and local debit cards
Prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards can work for deposits, but many cannot receive payouts, so plan another withdrawal route before you use one. Virtual cards from app-based banks behave like normal debit cards and are a tidy way to keep casino spending in one place with its own limit. AstroPay Card, listed at the Frenwall brands, is a prepaid virtual card you top up in advance.
Outside Europe, local debit schemes sometimes replace Visa and Mastercard in the cashier. Kim Casino, Bet Inferno, Winsly and Slot Hype list Interac, the Canadian bank-payment network, for example. Note that a payment method appearing in a cashier does not mean the casino may serve your province or country: Ontario is excluded in the Hundise terms, and other Canadian provinces run their own regulated markets.
Five habits for card payments at casinos
- Use one debit card for all casino deposits, so the spending is easy to see.
- Keep the card’s online limit low and raise it only on purpose.
- Never save card details at a casino you have stopped using; delete them in the cashier.
- Withdraw winnings rather than leaving them in the casino balance.
- Check the statement every month against the casino’s transaction history.
Card verification: what casinos ask for
Expect to prove that the card is yours before your first withdrawal. Casinos usually ask for a photo of the front of the card with the middle eight digits covered, and sometimes the back with the security code covered. The name must match your casino account. If you deposited with Apple Pay or Google Pay, a screenshot of the wallet showing the card’s last four digits often works instead; ask support which they accept.
| Document | What to show | What to hide |
|---|---|---|
| Card front | Name, first six and last four digits, expiry date | Middle digits |
| Card back (if asked) | Signature strip | Security code (CVV/CVC) |
| Phone wallet screenshot | Card name and last four digits | Everything else |
| Bank statement (alternative) | Your name and the casino payment | Other transactions |
When a card payment goes through but the balance does not update
Occasionally a payment is authorised by your bank but does not appear in the casino balance, usually because the casino’s processor timed out after the bank approved it. Do not deposit again. Note the time and amount, take a screenshot of the pending payment in your banking app and send both to the casino’s support. In most cases the authorisation either completes or is released back to your card within a few working days; if it was captured, the casino can credit it once it matches the payment.
All brands, licences and payment rails are listed on the directory front page, and the payment methods hub compares every method side by side.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Visa or Mastercard at international online casinos?
Yes, most fiat casinos in our directory accept both, including Spin Sweet, Jackpot Cow, Kim Casino, Slot Pony and Bet Inferno. Whether the payment goes through depends on your bank, because some issuers block gambling transactions.
Why does my bank decline casino payments?
Gambling merchants use merchant category code 7995, and many banks decline it by default or let customers block it. Card-type rules, 3-D Secure failures and daily limits are other common causes. Ask your bank first.
Is it a bad idea to gamble with a credit card?
Usually yes. Many issuers treat gambling as a cash advance, with an immediate fee and interest, and the UK and Australia ban credit cards for online gambling. A debit card or bank transfer avoids those costs.
How long do card withdrawals take?
At the brands we checked, card payouts are usually processed within two working days, with up to 72 hours allowed in the terms and up to three more days for the money to arrive. Some casinos pay card withdrawals by bank transfer instead.
Do card deposits count for casino bonuses?
At all five brands in our list, yes. The bonus exclusions apply to certain e-wallets, not to Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Can I deposit with Apple Pay at an international casino?
Yes, at several brands in our list, including Spin Sweet, Jackpot Cow and Slot Pony. Apple Pay is processed as a payment with the card stored on your phone, so your bank’s gambling settings and the card bonus rules apply.
Will the casino name appear on my card statement?
Often not. Statements usually show the payment processor or the operator’s payment agent. Keep the casino transaction ID for each deposit so you can match payments if you need to.
